On Saturday a huge space shuttle fuel tank made its way through the roads of Los Angeles. The Space Shuttle Fuel Tank was on its way to the California Science Centre. The Fuel tank has never been used in a real space flight mission and currently is the last standing space shuttle fuel tank in existence. The space shuttle fuel tank was moved across the 405 freeway in Los Angeles on its way to the California Space Centre, where it will on show along with the other retired space shuttle objects.

The fuel tank that made its way through the city of Los Angeles is literally as tall as a 15 story building. It has a weight of 66,000 lbs, which clearly defines the magnanimous size that it has. Moving the huge space shuttle fuel tank was quite a hectic task on hands of the supervisors. The fuel tank started its journey at around mid night from Marina Del Rey.

The vehicle carrying the space shuttle fuel tank was moving at a speed of 5 miles per hour and is expected to complete the journey to the California Space Centre is approximately more than 15 hours.

The crews on work had to do quite a preparation in order to move the tank through the city of Los Angeles. The path that the fuel tank followed was made free of any kind of obstacles including all the wires, the traffic signals, etc. It took the efforts of 30 engineers to derive an easy way to transport the space shuttle fuel tank through the city.

In spite of all the efforts to keep the path clean, the fuel tank cross approximately about 50 major intersections and make two simply great turns. The moving of the Space Shuttle tank also brought out a lot of spectators who were simply interested in the tank.
