Next Nexus: Here is What One Should Know About Next Nexus

26 Feb 2019

Google’s Nexus programme has made every smartphone that it gives birth to, to the master specification sheet by showcasing Android in its purest form possible. But in recent times, it couldn’t go neck-to-neck with the other phones because of any compromises it made by exclusion of MicroSD slots and some other features. But now, with all might, we are depositing our hopes in the next rumored Nexus, which is supposedly bringing some big changes to say, “This is what Android is”.

Release Date: With one thing in mind that, Nexus always comes out with the latest version of Android, we would be expecting the Android N’s completion stage as soon as possible and an assumed time frame around September for a solid release that Google still has not expressed.

Manufacturer: The current Nexus manufacturers are LG and Huawei, which released the cheaper Nexus 5x by LG and Nexus 6P by Huawei. The next manufacturer is rumored to be the HTC because of the firing word that HTC has signed a contract with Alphabet, parent of Google, in charge of taking responsibility to manufacture the Nexus devices for the next three years.

But also on the other side, Huawei has said that it will be doing the Nexus, this year again which leaves us confused. One thing we know for sure is, LG is definitely not in the game this year, thus leaving enough room for another manufacturer. We all bet for HTC because of its greater role in hardware and software, thanks to the HTC 10 reviews.

Design: We still don’t have any takes on the design, but if HTC is going to manufacture then we can expect a reasonable flagship phone with a premium design. Many fun mock-ups are invading the internet that Next Nexus is going to look like HTC 10. Some other reports claim that we will be getting two Nexus models, namely T50 and T55 with 5 inch and 5.2 inch rather than 5.5 and 5.7 inch models.

Hardware: Hands on, Daydream is going to be the hit of the market this year, so we can highly assume that Next Nexus will be baked with Daydream thereby giving a fresh start in the quality of virtual reality. It is being said the larger next Nexus handsets will have powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset with the tweaks of 820 and a 5.5 inch 2560×1440 pixel resolution display. The smallest of the two new Next Nexus handsets will have most likely a quad-core chipset, which is doubtful to be Snapdragon 820 with a 4 GB RAM with 32 GB for storage and USB Type C port for charging with 2770 mAh battery. But the display will be only 5 inches with 1920×1080 pixel resolution, which highly could fit in a VR with Daydream.

Software: Next Nexus will definitely sport the recent version of Android, which will be Android N which is nameless as of now (but could be Nutella as we all are voting for it), but Google will be soon unveiling it. Android N has impressed us all by its tweaks in settings, notifications in its beta version, which also had a slight touch of Marshmallow materialistic design. We only hope Android N to be power efficient and to be designed with Daydream which is Google’s new VR platform.

It is more likely that HTC will be the responsible manufacturer and as far as the price is concerned number of specific leaks suggest what may come as it may but it should definitely reflect HTC 10 flagship. Ever since we are impressed by the Android N, we are also expecting a major software enhanced experience. With the updated information, we can expect the Nexus launch around September or October 2016.
