Motorola introduced their flagship Moto Z and the Moto Z Force by replacing Moto X as a flagship device. With the range of MotoMod accessories, it has rendered something different in them, and as well as, with battery capacity being the major difference. 

Here, I have compared Moto Z with LG G5, HTC 10 and Samsung Galaxy S7. After squeezing all the main differences out, here is the list.

Design:

Moto Z has all metal body for a premium look. It is furnished with aluminium and stainless steel, measuring 155.9 x 75.8 x 6.99mm and weighing 163g. Both the phones have fingerprint sensor and also nano coating, which carries water resistant nature. Uses type C USB instead of 3.5mm jack headphone socket. Moto Maker provides plenty of design options for the phone which comes with a classy camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a metal and glass body that measures 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9mm and weighs 152g which is thicker than Moto Z. Available in more color options such as black, gold, white and silver along with waterproof rating of IP68.
The HTC 10 offers an interesting design with metal unibody which is anodized in the rear edge, which measures 145.9 x 71.9mm, making it fatter than the above two rival phones with 161g. It comes with BoomSound, which provides better speakers of all the devices compared here.
The LG G5 carries a metal body, which is kind of painted with a modular element for a removable battery. This is unique feature when compared to other phones here. It measures 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7mm and weighs 159g, which makes it little fatter and heavier than the Galaxy S7 and Moto Z. This phone also features fingerprint sensor. It comes with different color variations in back panel such as silver, gold, titan and pink.
Although, among all the 4, Moto Z stands out because of the integration with MotoMods which provides seamless customization.

Display:

Moto Z offers a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440-pixel resolution in an AMOLED display offering a pixel density of 535ppi. The regular Moto Z is sported with Gorilla Glass, but the Moto Z Force is protected by Shatter Shield, thereby rendering unbreakable quality virtually.
Samsung Galaxy S7 also features an AMOLED display, but only with 5.1 inch screen with Quad HD resolution and 577ppi, resulting in crisper and sharp image quality. It tops the smart display list, no doubts.
The HTC 10 has a 5.2-inch LCD display, again with 2560 x 1440 pixels for 564ppi, offering better resolution but not as clear as Samsung.
The LG G5 also has a Quad HD resolution. It takes the middle position with 5.3-inches at 554ppi, offering a great display with deep blacks and never fails to function as expected.
Among all these, certainly they all render same amount of pixel display, but Samsung being the sharper and a great performer.

Camera:

Moto Z and Moto Z Force have different rear camera configurations, front camera being the same 5 MP. Moto Z has 13 megapixel whereas Moto Z Force comes on board with 21 megapixel. Both offer optical image stabilization (OIS) and laser autofocus, both have 1.12µm pixels, although the Z Force declares that it has a deep trench isolation of its sensor, as well as phase detection AF.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 features a 12-megapixel rear camera with 1.4µm pixels, OIS and an aperture of f/1.7 for better performance in low light. It also features duel pixel technology for phase detection and quick auto focusing.
The HTC 10 comes with a 12 megapixel camera, with 1.55µm pixels, OIS and an f/1.8 aperture and also, laser auto focus. Its 5 megapixel selfie camera does wonders and is considered the best among all the 4 compared here.
The LG G5 has a 16-megapixel main rear camera, along with a secondary 8-megapixel 135-degree wide-angle sensor and 8-megapixel front-facing camera on board.
Samsung is the best around here, given the simplicity and the consistency. However, we cannot judge the performance of Moto Z too early.

Hardware:

Both the Moto Z phones are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4GB of RAM. Options for 32 or 64GB storage with microSD expansion are offered. Moto Z offers 2600 mAh battery, whereas Moto Z Force comes as a stronger one in 3500 mAh. It also offers USB Type C.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 comes in two versions of chipsets. One with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and other has the Exynos 8 Octa processor. Both have 4 GB of RAM. 32GB and 64 GB of storage variants with microSd expansion is also supported. The Galaxy S7 has a 3000mAh battery, and sticks with Micro-USB.
The HTC 10 is also a Snapdragon 820 device with 4GB of RAM and 32GB storage with microSD card expansion. It features USB Type-C and offers a 3000mAh battery.
The LG G5 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with microSD support. It has a smaller 2800mAh battery than many of the devices on this list, but as we mentioned previously, it is removable. There’s USB Type-C for charging and accessories.
Software:

Moto Z phones come with Android Marshmallow, but we don’t stand a chance in getting Android N, until the list of phones for the update is confirmed.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 also comes with Android Marshmallow, as does the LG G5, but both have their individual software. The Galaxy S7 has Samsung’s TouchWiz skin placed on top, while the G5 has LG’s Optimus UX on top, changing just about every element of Android visually, and providing a bundle of extra apps and services.
The HTC 10 offers Android Marshmallow and has also reduced the bulk, bloating apps for a slick experience.
Out of all these, Moto will be almost fully Android leaving Samsung and HTC to distinctly differ a bit. LG is left behind all of them.

Verdict:

Moto Z phones are almost the same with the difference being just the battery size.
LG G5 doesn’t provide many customization as Moto does and depends only on its selfie camera to win the hands of the buyers.
Samsung S7, however is in a solid position by offering waterproof features, cameras and beautiful displays.
HTC stands apart in audio rendering and matured software experience.
On the whole, we could significantly see Samsung S7 and Moto Z phones as two rival challengers. But, we have to wait and see, which of these will stir up the best in the mobile arena.
